The Atlantic Division wishes to extend an invitation to the TCA National Officers, Board of Directors and all TCA members and their families, to join us for the 60th National TCA Convention, June 21-28, 2014, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Our convention headquarters is the Crowne Plaza Hotel, located in Cherry Hill, NJ (located just 5 miles from downtown Philadelphia). From your hotel room you can see the Philadelphia skyline just a short distance to the west. The Crown Plaza is offering our members a $119/night room rate. Meeting rooms, trading pits, and banquet halls are all conveniently included at this one location.
The hotel features 408 guest rooms, 15 suites, more than 43,000 square feet of convention space, an outdoor swimming pool, free Wi-Fi (both in room and throughout the public areas), and free parking. The entire hotel facility is non-smoking. By the time our convention opens, the Crowne Plaza will have completed a renovation to all guest rooms and the public areas of the hotel.
The Crowne Plaza Philadelphia/Cherry Hill offers the best of amenities in a beautiful location. Nestled on the shores of the Cooper River, the hotel’s site presents the combination of river sports and walking trails on one side, and imposing views of the Philadelphia skyline on the other. The hotel is just five (5) miles from historic Old City and Center City, Philadelphia. Philadelphia International Airport is fifteen (15) miles from the hotel. Easy access to our public transportation network, (SEPTA, PATCO, Amtrak and NJ Transit) will get you to the attractions of your choice.
Our Tours include train related venues, as well as historic sites and other points of interest (see Tour/Event Schedule from the menu bar) . Since Philadelphia was the birthplace of our nation there is a long list of historic landmarks to visit. Our tours include three separate rail tours, a visit to the Steamtown National Historic Site, the New Jersey shore, several of our museums and other national treasures found in our region. There are more than 20 train layouts that you can visit as well.
Keep in mind that the Tour and Event times and schedules have not been finalized as we are still refining the tour and layout lists. The final schedule will be posted on our web site (www.ADTCA.com), and in the upcoming National TCA publications. You will be able to make your reservations online beginning January 1, 2014.
To help offset our convention expenses, the Atlantic Division is selling convention-related souvenirs and shirts. We are also selling our current car offerings which include TastykakeTM boxcars (in both ‘O’ and ‘S’ gauges), and the Philly Pretzel FactoryTM car, which will released soon in ‘O’ gauge. Each car we offer is produced in small quantities and sell out very quickly. If you would like to purchase one of our cars, we recommend that you place your order when the car is announced. Otherwise, you may be disappointed. We still have a very limited number of the Ed Alexander Train Museum & Barn lithographed models left. These and other items, along with the order forms, can be found on our web site.
Make sure you look at the 2014 National Convention Cars that can be ordered online now at www.TrainCollectors.org. or use the 2014 Convention pull-down menu and select the National Convention Car Suite menu item. There are some some great cars available that compliment the Atlantic Division’s fund raiser cars (Tastykake & Philadelphia Pretzel Factory offerings). The deadline for ordering your convention cars is October 31, 2013. Don’t miss out on these fantastic cars.
